Liverpool Beatles Tours

When it comes to booking your Beatles tour, not just any old tour will do.

For many people, this is a trip of a lifetime, and we at Liverpool Beatles Tours understand this. That is why our Beatles historian, David Bedford, has spent the last 7 years researching the history of the Beatles and Liverpool for his forthcoming book. This has entailed reading around 100 books on the Beatles and comparing the stories. This was inconclusive.

He has then interviewed the following people from Beatles' history to get their view on Beatles history, to find out what really happened.

Beatles drummer Pete Best, Beatles manager Allan Williams, Quarry Men members Rod Davis, Eric Griffiths and Colin Hanton, Brian Epstein’s right hand man and Beatles’ Mr. Fixit Alistair Taylor, Beatles Press officer Tony Barrow, John Lennon’s lover in the 1970s May Pang, Ringo’s childhood friend Marie Maguire, Shea Stadium promoter Sid Bernstein, Quarrymen member Ken Brown, Beatles bass guitarist Chas Newby, George Harrison ’s cousin Irene, Stuart Sutcliffe’s sister Pauline, Merseybeat legend Faron.

There have been many others, like John Lennon’s teacher Harry Holmes, plus school friends of John, George, Paul and Ivan Vaughan, and many others who aren’t famous, but were eyewitnesses to a special time in the story of the Beatles in Liverpool.

He has shared his knowledge with your Tour Guides so that you get the real Beatles Story of Liverpool.

Your Beatles tour guides have all been grounded in Beatles' history and knowledge and can share this with you.

Like everything in life, you get what you pay for. If you are shopping around, then please check that your guide is trained and knowledgeable. Liverpool has a great tradition for well-trained blue-badge guides, and there are many that we work with. There are other tours too. Just make sure you are happy with the expert knowledge that you will be paying for.

We have also been asked to help TV, filmmakers, magazines, newspapers and Radio stations with research and history, as well as interviews, which has been a privilege and fun too. These have included:

· Paul McCartney's pre-show film for his tour in 2005. I took Paul’s film director and producer Mark Haefeli around Liverpool showing him the locations where Paul was born and grew up: it was a great honour, and the short film can now be seen on Paul’s DVD, “Space Within Us”.
· Fulcrum Production's TV documentary "The Beatles' Biggest Secrets";
· Acme TV's production of a film about John Lennon for S4C;
· Liverpool Daily Post & Echo Newspapers as well as assistance for articles in the Daily Mail, The Times, The Express and Mirror papers.

Interviews for BBC Radio Stations:
· BBC Radio Merseyside,
· BBC Shropshire,
· BBC Wales
· BBC Radio 2

· and many others.
