The Quarrymen at Dovedale School |
|
On Saturday, May 8th 2004, the original Quarrymen - Rod Davis, Colin Hanton, Eric Griffiths and Len Garry will be appearing at Dovedale Primary School, near Penny Lane in Liverpool. Dovedale School was host to original Quarrymen member Ivan Vaughan (who introduced Paul McCartney to John Lennon), and of course Quarrymen, and later Beatles, John Lennon and George Harrison. The event is part of a fundraising effort to build a new library, a fund started by Yoko Ono with a generous personal donation. In the afternoon, there will be a couple of 60's bands playing. We will the have the history of skiffle, with a demonstration of the intruments and how skiffle grabbed the imaginations of so many people by Quarrymen Rod Davis and Colin Hanton. Families are welcome. There is a £2.50 charge for adults, and £1.00 for children for the afternoon. The evening event
is aimed more at adults, and will be a concert, headlined by The Quarrymen.
There will also be a couple of 60's bands on the bill, and entrance fee
will include a buffet. There will be refreshments available too, as well
as a bar. If you would like
